SET and GET

Strings are the simplest type—perfect for cache entries and tokens.

SET page:home "<html>...</html>"
GET page:home

Add expiry or only-set-if-missing in one command.

SET lock:job1 "worker-a" NX EX 30
SET cache:home "..." EX 60

INCR/DECR are atomic—great for rate limits and tallies.

INCR visits:home
INCRBY visits:home 5
GET visits:home

Fetch several keys in one round trip when you know the names.

MSET a 1 b 2 c 3
MGET a b c
